The Matrikon Suite of products has been created based on a three-tiered technology philosophy that addresses operational excellence and low cost of ownership at every level, from control and instrumentation to presentation.

Universal connectivity

Good communication is the foundation on which operational excellence is built. Matrikon’s approach to universal connectivity deploys open standards such as OPC to ensure seamless two-way communication between data sources, from the control layer to business systems. Matrikon technology enables integration of legacy equipment with newer systems, frees systems from being locked into vendor-specific proprietary standards, and enhances flexibility and scalability.

Intelligent plant data model

Data models exist to describe data and relate it to objects. Traditional data models tend to warehouse plant and process information in disparate systems locked away from common access, and these models go out of date every time the business process changes. Matrikon’s intelligent plant data model organizes data according to its relevance to the real world, in a model that understands material flows and interactions – the physical process. The business logic is separated from the 'plumbing', making it possible to simultaneously apply different business processes without having to remake the model.

Matrikon's core competency in universal connectivity means data doesn't need to be duplicated – through the intelligent plant data model, applications can get the data where it resides. Because all reports and applications are driven from the same model of the facility and based on common information, a single version of the truth is made available to all layers of the business, and application maintenance effort and total cost of ownership are significantly reduced.

Web visualization

The ability to make informed operational decisions is possible only if one has access to the required operational data - not just part of it. Without access to the whole operational picture, decisions become guesses that result in decreased profitability, quality issues and poor performance.

The Matrikon Suite of products make use of web-based data visualization (Matrikon Operational Insight) to enable better operational decisions by providing the right people with the data they need, when they need it and in the format they require. Using standards-based technology, Matrikon Operational Insight connects to any real-time, historical or relational data source. Coupled with a robust, configurable dashboard interface, data has never been easier to trend, chart, monitor, report and display.
