SIEMENS PLC & DCS systems knowledge
As one of the largest Authorised Siemens System Integrators, Honeywell has
direct access to the Siemens support network, which enables us to provide
our customers with a high level of confidence from the initial technical
risk perspective of a project through to local long-term support for the
customer.
Our status as Authorised Systems Integrators positions us well to take on
large scale complex projects with both confidence and support. We also have
fully trained and experienced STEP7 software programmers and network designers.

ABB System 800XA DCS experience
From 2003-2007 Matrikon designed, simulated, implemented and commissioned 4
triple-redundant boiler control systems for Queensland Nickel based on this
ABB DCS. The ABB system 800xA AC800M controllers were utilised in a Duty/Standby
arrangement for implementing the process control related Boiler Control System
(BCS). ABB’s OperateIT range of HMI software provided the operator interface,
along with the EngineerIT range of controller software to implement the Control
Strategy designed by Matrikon. Communications was handled using OPC in order to
allow the myriad of devices to communicate reliably and effectively.
Invensys Triconnex Experience
Honeywell have used the Triconnex Safety PLC to implement a SIL rated Burner
Management system (BMS) on Boilers 1 – 4 at Queensland Nickel. The result
is 4 Burner Management systems that comply with IEC61508 and boiler codes.
This system consisting of safety PLCs combined with a non-safety DCS for
analogue and non-critical logic provided QNI with a system that was not over
engineered. The rigorous (and expensive) certification activities were only
performed on the Safety PLC. Standard test procedures were adequate for the
non-safety DCS.
Triconnex Tricon [SIL3 certified]
In addition Honeywell has implanted the Triconnex system on a hydrogen
sulphide plant safety shutdown system at Queensland Nickel.
