Design Study for Continuous Caster Tundish Weigh Control and Ladle Steel Flow Estimate
|
|
This paper describes a study into tundish weight control and steel ow estimation at BHP Steel - Long Products Division, Newcastle, NSW, Australia, performed during late 1995. Following upon a previous project to successfully implement automatic mold level control at this installation, a study was made on how to improve the weight control in the tundish and to also improve the estimate of steel ow exiting the ladle. The project involved plant analysis, controller design, Kalman filtering and on-line implementation. The feasibility study successfully achieved its objectives and resulted in some modifications to the existing control system. |
