Closed Loop Identification for Model Predictive Control: Application to Air Separation Process
|
|
In this paper, we will focus on a technology based approach that exploits powerful closed loop modeling techniques in deploying advanced control applications. Using operating data, a seed model is first developed. An initial model-based controller is put in place using these "seed" models. The step test is then conducted with the controller in place under closed loop conditions. The resulting models from the closed loop data are used to quickly update the "seed" models. The closed loop modeling scheme also provides insight into individual model qualities thus minimizing the subjectivity usually associated with this step. We will present comparison of the conventional and the new approach in terms of effort and performance. The applicability of the closed loop identification scheme to maintenance and deployment of existing Air Separation Unit (ASU) applications will be discussed. |
