NRG Energy Center Minneapolis (NRG) is a district heating and cooling company providing steam heating services to over 100 customers and chilled water cooling services to almost 60 customers in the downtown core of Minneapolis, MN. NRG has been providing district heating and cooling services since 1972. Imperative to NRG’s ability to develop these relationships is the ability to accurately meter energy consumption and to maintain sufficient documentation to assure the customer they are being correctly billed and to provide support to customers’ efforts to improve operating efficiency. NRG needed a reliable and flexible system of hardware and software to collect utility usage data from remote customer sites, coupled with a comprehensive set of software tools to facilitate analysis and reporting of historical operating data.
