Improved Operational Performance through Information Management at Rio Tinto
Northparkes Mine, a Rio Tinto copper/gold subsidiary located in Central NSW, Australia, undertook an extensive market survey in 2004 to find a solution that would quantify and improve their understanding of underground mining and surface processing operations.
This presentation will discuss the need for a continuous improvement program focused on alarm management, control loop performance assessment, downtime and production reporting and the lessons learned at Northparkes Mine based on a solution implemented by an experienced team using standard products.
Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) 2006 Conference includes an exceptional technical program; the Mining in Society show geared at developing appreciation and understanding of the mining industry, an Investment Centre, a comprehensive Geology Program and the Automin conference on advanced technology and automation.
