How to Deliver Real-Time Condition Monitoring in a Modern Power Generation Setting

Southern Company’s six combined cycle power plants needed a way to knit real time information with Maximo to support its condition-based maintenance program. Using tools provided by Matrikon and built on an IP21 historian, the company went live in January 2006 with EventMonitor, a solution that checks run time, measures equipment condition, triggers Maximo work requests using a rules-based engine, and provides email or pager notification to asset managers.
This case study offers a customer’s perspective on how to deliver real time condition monitoring in a modern power generation setting.
Bema Gold Case Study: Managing the Supply Chain in Siberia
