Managing the Process, Not the Alarms at a Major Refinery
A major refinery has an initiative to better manage the process. The key to managing the process and not the alarms is Alarm Management. One way to execute this initiative is to reduce the number of alarms. A major refinery went through the process of Alarm Rationalization and after a few years realized that it is a continuous process. They determined that tools for continuous assessment and analysis were necessary. This major refinery has used Matrikon's Technology Solution to help manage and put in place a Management of Change (MOC) process for managing alarms.
