Matrikon signs with major Australian coal producer to deliver process information management system

Edmonton, Alberta – October 16, 2007
Matrikon (TSX:MTK) today announced that one of Australia’s leading coal producers has selected Matrikon to provide a PIMS solution as they had identified the critical need for standard production reporting across their different mining sites. This PIMS will provide instant access to production information and essentially provide the business with the ability to make informed decision based on data which maintains its integrity, is true and accurate.
Currently, the company relies heavily on manually entered spreadsheets to manage, track and report operations. Matrikon’s PIMS solution provides automation for accurate monitoring and reporting on the coal production process. The solution includes Matrikon Downtime Reporter together with Matrikon Production Manager, which are designed specifically for downtime reporting, production accounting, materials management and train management requirements. Matrikon™ Operational Insight, which enables a seamless interface, provides a management dashboard and web-based reporting for the real-time data historian. Matrikon Alarm Manager which optimizes alarm system performance to improve plant safety, productivity and profitability.
Through the use of the Train Management component of Matrikon™ Production Manager, Matrikon has also been selected to provide automation for the Train Load Out (TLO) systems allowing operator-free coal loading at two sites.
