Matrikon™ announces late filing of second quarter 2009 Interim Financial Statements

Matrikon Inc. (TSX:MTK), announces that it is not able to file its interim financial statements ("Interim Financial Statements"), management discussion & analysis ("MD&A") and certification of interim filings (the "Certifications") by the April 14, 2009 deadline. Matrikon expects to file the statements on April 24, 2009.

Matrikon began the transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") system in conjunction with the start of the second quarter on December 1, 2008. The ERP includes the systems for recording transactions and forms the basis of Matrikon's financial statement preparation. We have been able to generate financial statements; however, due to some delays during the transition process, we require additional time to confirm the accuracy of the information and to complete the above filings. This has not affected our ability to sell and deliver our software or services.

Matrikon’s current plans to remedy default include completing a detailed review of accounts and transactions to enable the filings to be made. The anticipated date for remedying the default is April 24, 2009.

As a result of the delay, Matrikon has voluntarily requested that the Alberta Securities Commission and other Canadian securities regulatory authorities issue a temporary Management Cease Trade Order ("MCTO") that prohibits certain current directors, officers and insiders of Matrikon from trading in securities of Matrikon for so long as Interim Financial Statements, MD&A and Certifications are not filed.

The issuance of such MCTO generally does not affect the ability of persons who have not been directors, officers or insiders of the issuer to trade in their securities. Matrikon intends to promptly provide information on further developments in this matter and will issue a bi-weekly status update report in accordance with National Policy 12-203 – Cease Trade Orders for Continuous Disclosure Defaults.

There is no certainty that an MCTO will be granted. The applicable regulatory authorities may issue cease trade orders against Matrikon for failure to file the statements within the prescribed time period.
