Happy New Year! I hope the New Year finds you happy and healthy
after the holidays! 2008 was an outstanding year for MatrikonOPC, both from a business
and a technology leadership perspective. We made significant technology enhancements to our OPC
server framework. New capabilities like security, redundancy, and calculation have made our OPC
servers the number 1 choice for critical applications. We have also extended our global reach;
a new office was opened in the Middle East to better serve our growing customer base. As we move

Connect with an Expert - SNMP Question: Dear Mr. OPC Expert: I know that I can get SNMP data into an HMI or Historian by using the MatrikonOPC Server for SNMP, but are there any products out there that can go the other way? I need the IT crowd to have the ability to view OPC data. Is it possible to build an MIB file to push OPC data to products like HP OpenView or Castle Rock Network Manager via SNMP?

Functionally, you need something that will serve up SNMP to your IT NMS (Network Management System) on one side, and use an OPC client on the other. The MatrikonOPC SNMP Agent for OPC offers this type of functionality, and makes your OPC assets visible to your NMS system! Now you can monitor control systems in a controlled secure fashion just like they were an SNMP device.  |
