I have an issue in my present project. Is it possible to connect to an OPC Server that is on a remote PC which is not in the same domain? -Mr. E
Answer (Sean Leonard, VP MatrikonOPC): "Classic" OPC uses Microsoft’s COM/DCOM technology as the underlying communications layer. To establish a COM/DCOM connection, you need to authenticate users, a process that works best when the 2 PC’s are in a single Windows domain or workgroup. This type of issue is most commonly solved with off the shelf tunneling products like MatrikonOPC’s Tunneller. |
