High oil prices and global warming concerns have more people looking at renewable energy sources such as wind power. Wind power installations have unique challenges of diverse locations of multiple generating stations. Find out how OPC can provide continuous access to real-time information needed for equipment monitoring and making production decisions.

Read the Case Study
Everyone everywhere is thinking green, and power generation through the use of wind farms is quickly gaining popularity. One of the major problems that the wind-power industry faces is the need to efficiently collect data from distributed systems, and effectively historize it for future analysis.

This MatrikonOPC Case study provides a cost effective solution to exactly that question. Read how MatrikonOPC worked with AES to achieve a scalable solution that breaks down the barriers to data access.

Eric Murphy
A key thing to remember is OPC HDA is designed for time-series data, and typically is the interface of choice for process historians that collect and archive real time data. SQL/ODBC is the interface of choice for relational databases, which allows for more complex relationships between the data. Some people do choose to store real-time process data in a relational database (even Access or Excel ‘dramatic shudder’).
